What should I do in an emergent dental situation?
Here are recommendations for some of the most common dental emergencies we see:
A Knocked out Tooth.
Make sure to contact us as soon as possible to schedule an emergency dental appointment. Time is of the essence when it comes to saving a tooth that has been struck out, so the sooner you contact us, the better. If you have located the tooth that was knocked out, keep it in your mouth or in a cup of cold milk to prevent it from drying out, and bring it with you to the emergency dental. Pick up the tooth by the crown, not the roots, and avoid excessive washing or handling. Take some paracetamol if you are experiencing agony.
A Chipped Tooth
If your tooth sustains a fissure or chip as a result of trauma or an injury, you may require an emergency filling, crown, or extraction. Your emergency dentist should be able to file down any irregular edges and use tooth-colored fillings to replace any missing tooth structure. If you are experiencing pain, you can take paracetamol and rinse your mouth with saline water.
An abscess
If your face, gums, or mouth are swollen, this could be the result of a dental abscess. This is an infection of the tooth interior that requires immediate emergency dental treatment. Take paracetamol for any pain and remain seated or standing until you reach the emergency dentist.
Treatments
A specialised branch of dental care that focuses on providing immediate and urgent dental treatments for patients experiencing dental emergencies such as severe toothaches, broken teeth, or dental trauma.
Including preventive care, regular check-ups, dental cleanings, fillings, and other non-emergency treatments, aimed at maintaining optimal oral health and preventing dental problems.
A relaxed and anxiety-free experience for patients during dental procedures, allowing individuals with dental phobia or anxiety to receive the necessary treatments comfortably.
A common oral surgery procedure aimed at removing impacted or problematic wisdom teeth, relieving pain, preventing dental misalignment, and promoting overall oral health.
Endodontic therapy, involves the removal of infected or damaged dental pulp from the tooth, effectively saving the natural tooth and alleviating pain caused by infection or inflammation.
Enhancing the appearance of the smile through various treatments such as teeth whitening, dental veneers, dental bonding, and orthodontics, aiming to improve the aesthetics and boost self-confidence.
