How do you calm anxious patients like me?
First, we acknowledge that there are a number of potential causes for your dental anxiety. Because the causes of your dental phobia are unique to you, getting to know you is the most essential thing we can do.
Here are a few examples of what we believe will make your experience easier:
We consider your convenience a top priority throughout your entire journey with us. From our opulent chairs to the calming aromas used in our waiting areas to the music played during treatments, we have meticulously planned every aspect to create a holistic atmosphere.
Active Listening – Our entire dental team is highly trained and aware of the importance of active listening in delivering the level of care you require. We must first take the time to listen attentively. We wish to establish a relationship of trust with you for a healthier future.
We move at your speed, not ours. A large portion of dental anxiety can be reduced to a sense of helplessness. We strive to ensure that the quality of care you receive at our facility is delivered with your input and under your control. If you raise your hand during treatment, we will stop.
Communication – During dental visits, we will spend time discussing treatment options and requirements, as we value openness and autonomy.
Do you provide anxiety sedation?
Using the Enjoyable Dentistry Technique, we provide conscious sedation for our patients. This is a completely novel and revolutionary method for ensuring your gradual comfort and profound relaxation throughout the duration of the treatment.
We combine 'happy air' sedation with nitrous oxide and oxygen, which is entirely safe and reversible for the majority of patients (your clinician will explain any minor contraindications). In addition, we use guided meditation and alpha wave calming music to transport you to a "happy place" so that you can enjoy this therapeutic state without worrying about what is happening during your appointment.
You are awake for the duration of your treatment, and we will continue to reassure you while avoiding dental jargon. Our nurses are so perceptive that we rarely need to communicate with each other, allowing you to simply unwind and listen to the soothing background music.
