What issues can Invisalign® correct?
Crowded teeth is a condition in which there is insufficient space for the teeth to align normally. Plaque, tartar, and other harmful microorganisms can accumulate as brushing and flossing become more difficult.
Gaps between Teeth
When there is excess space between two or more teeth, there are gaps between the teeth. This can lead to pockets between your teeth and gums, which can trap food and make your gums tender and irritable. This may also result in periodontal disease.
Open Bite
When your upper and lower teeth do not touch when you shut your mouth, you have an open bite. An open bite can make it challenging to chew or bite even the most common foods, such as apples.
Underbite
When you close your mouth, an underbite occurs when your lower front teeth are in front of your upper front teeth. In many instances, this is caused by the lower mandible being too far forward. Underbite can make it difficult to chew effectively and speak clearly, and it may also accelerate tooth wear.
Overbite
When your upper and lower front teeth overlap, you have an overbite. The majority of individuals have at least a slight overbite. If your overbite is excessive, your doctor may diagnose you with a severe bite. This can result in problems such as tooth erosion and mandible pain.
Crossbite
When you shut your mouth, you have a crossbite if some of your upper teeth are inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. Crossbites can cause tooth attrition and chipping. It may also cause your gums to recede and form small incisions above the gum line. This type of injury can result in painful periodontal problems and even bone loss.
